• Is the idea of combatant qua state-employed soldier a valid ethical characterization of actors in modern warfare?

• What role does the technological backdrop of modern warfare play in understanding and realizing just war theories?

Over the course of three key sections, the contributors examine these challenges to the just war tradition in a way that invigorates existing discussions and generates new debate on topical and prospective issues in just war theory.

Practical knowledge for modern RF circuits and systems design

Walking down the halls of a large RFIC design company for the last decade, I notice the same few text books on the desks of most of the designers, especially recent graduates. These are excellent academic texts, but were written when CMOS RFIC design was more of a research concept. Now that we are well into the 2nd decade of the CMOS renaissance, there has been a lot of real world design experience gained.
Dr. Darabi is someone whose designs have been manufactured into CMOS RFIC's for hundreds of millions of wireless devices currently in use around the world today. His insights and advice are greatly sought out amongst peers and colleagues.
His book starts out by reviewing the fundamental equations of the electromagnetic pioneers Gauss, Faraday, Kirchhoff, Maxwell etc. With this reaffirmed foundation, the reader is led to individual chapters on modulation, filters, noise and distortion. Next come chapters dedicated to each block in the RF signal chain: LNA's, Mixers, LO's, all the way to PA's. Concluding with an RX TX transceiver architecture overview, including current packaging and production concerns.
The reader can follow the book as a whole, or skip to a specific chapter and dig in to the loads of equations, diagrams, problem solving questions and answers, as well as the many references to other books and research papers. This book is an excellent tool for someone researching design concepts, or examining their current RFIC circuits and systems designs.

Excellent Book to Understand RF Circuit Design

I think this book is in one the up to dated and comprehensive ones in its realm. It can be useful for students and RF engineers to understand how real world transceivers and circuits work. Although, at first glance, it may seem hard to real but I suggest trying to study one topic you have read known and hive knowledge about it, and then you will find out this book gives you more insight about it and tries to give you new intuitive and engineering view to it so that you can make your knowledge deeper and apply it in real circuit design.

For example, most RF books talked about system design. However, I think this is the only new one that addresses topics like reciprocal mixing and Harmonic mixing in detail. I am sure you will find new information/methods that are practical and will help you to design/understand feasible circuits.

The book starts to build fundamentals like circuit theory, random process and etc. and then step by step goes to circuit and transceiver design. The author is well known in RFIC realm as he tried to combine his academic and industrial knowledge here to share it with you.

Finally, I suggest having it in your library because I am sure you will enjoy its reading and find new ideas!

I'm really liking this book. It begins with fundamentals and covers a decent amount of theory but is also practical, with intuitive explanations of things. I really like the way the author explains and approaches the concepts. Problem sets can be challenging but that's what makes it fun, right !?!? Definitely a good reference text to have in the collection.

Not too bad...but is overpriced for what you get.

I had purchased this book and the "Airbrush Makeup-your Ultimate Guide" at the same time. I really wish this was the only book of the two I would have spent my money on , as I literally wasted my gift card money on the "Ultimate Guide"; I wish there was a way to return kindle books, because the "Ultimate Guide" sucked (I wrote a review). At least this book was better written, by far. There are only 167 pages, and took me about 20 minutes to read. This in itself, makes me feel I paid too much for the book. It's clear the author uses the equipment, however.. which is more than I can say for the "Ultimate Guide".

Basically, if you have done a lot of research on these airbrush make up companies, their products, and what they can be used for, you essentially have more understanding than the "Ultimate Guide", and will receive an affirmation from "Airbrush Makeup as a Profession", plus get some pointers on some troubleshooting. Believe it or not, the YouTube "everyday person" reviews and tutorials featuring Dinair or Luminess Air systems will serve you just as well as this book, but at least this one sort of consolidates the topics of tattoos, flaw, scar, and tattoo hiding/coverage, etc. and saves you come computer time.

As an artist who had used airbrush many years ago, I know there's nothing that will replace actual hands on experience with the equipment. Doing makeup through airbrush handpieces will require the same. I'm looking forward to working with my new Dinair kit... maybe I'll write a practical guide book regarding the kit and publish it.. but I still say, the videos are priceless in gaining insight through the experiences and opinions of actual users.

Adequate, but no answer key available

I am self-learning Korean, and while the Integrated Korean Beginning I textbook is pretty good, this accompanying workbook has proven to be a huge disappointment, for two reasons:

1. About half of the exercises rely on listening to the accompanying audio files. In theory, this is great for learning pronunciation, especially for those of us who don't have an instructor. Unfortunately, the gap between spoken items is often too short for a beginning student to process the words and write an answer. I frequently have to pause and rewind the audio file. Also, the files themselves are somewhat cryptically-named, and in at least one case, incorrectly labeled altogether.

2. More importantly, there's no way to check answers. I can understand why the publisher might not make these available to the public (Korean instructors may want to use the workbook as homework or quiz material), but for those of us who are learning on our own, this is supremely frustrating. I've actually stopped using the workbook because I'm afraid that the inability to check my work may be teaching me bad habits.

I tried to use the E-mail form on the publisher's website to ask about an answer key, but two weeks later I still haven't received a response.

The exercise material in this workbook seems like it would be quite useful if there were a way to check your work. Hopefully the publisher will realize that not all of its customers are college students and will offer a way for independent students to grade their own work.

Pretty standard workbook

I can't believe this was used for a beginning Korean class. The book is great but it should be for intermediate level Korean. Even as a Korean speaker I find this book challenging for a beginner's class.

Other than that, this book is straightforward and helpful. Lots of repetitive writing and eventually goes into sentences and answering questions.

Excellent review of "Playing the Akai EWI5000 Electronic Wind Instrument"

The author is absolutely correct about the Akai manuals. While technically solid and, I am sure, accurate in all respects, they are also very 'hard to digest' by those of us who have not had prior experience with synthesized music. The writing in this piece is clear and concise. Mr. Zwa apologizes for English not being his native tongue, but I found his presentation to be clear and precise. It would certainly never be challenged on those grounds. As a college professor who has read thousands of student papers over the years, I feel well qualified in making that assessment. The content here is excellent and, in my opinion, does a nice job 'contextualizing' technical matters. I was looking for information on how to play the EWI 5000. Unfortunately this book has a huge portion dedicated to the history of the EWI, comparing it to the Yamaha WX, How the tones are generated electronically, how the Bite works electronically, how the note keys produce sound, etc. There was very little on actually what each button is for and how to play it.
The Author is obviously an expert in his field but I need some low level help on how to play the EWI 5000.

Quick Menage Story

I love a sexy, well written, menage story and this one did not disappoint. The only reason I didn't love it and give it 5 stars is because I wish there had been more to their story. How did it all work after they hiked off that mountain? Did Jake and Connor stay friends afterwards? Was Julie really able to handle a relationship with two guys in her life? If anything an epilogue would have been great. Marie Carnay is still one of my favorite authors and I have never read one of her books where I thought I wouldn't recommend it for a quick read.

Just amazed by the story with Julie, Jake and Conner. Such hot sex scenes. Nothing like being stuck in a cabin with a blizzard outside and two gorgeous, virile men on the inside. Oh the fun to be had. Thank you Marie Carnay.

Perelman's Cigar Book

More photographs would have been helpful. Pictures of the entire line of each brand, with a close-up of one band, would have been much more useful than much of the text.
The proliferation of commercial ads brings the integrity of already subjective commentary into question. Objective information, such as country of origin, is much more useful overall.
All that being said, the book has it's uses, and was a fair value at the purchase price.

Missing Link - No band pictures.

I expected the cyclopedia to include pictures of the cigar bands. It doesn't. Without a rosetta stone to correlate the listing in the cyclopedia to the actual cigar, it's pretty usless to me.
The info listed; shape, name, length, ring, and wrapper; can already be found any number of places on the Net.

A Compendium of the U.S. Cigar Market

Perelman's Cigar Pocket Cyclopedia is best respected as a refference for tabaconists and enthusiasts who want a quick guide and resource to the wide array of cigars available on the markey in a compact and easily acessible format. Although I would in no way consider this cyclopedia a end-all be all resource since It does lack some available brands and exclusives the overall coverage available here is quite good and offers the reader a brief look into each cigar brand including basic information on the blend, manufacturing and sizes available for purchase.

As it is intended to be this is by no means a guide to quality but rather just a manifest of the market. The small descirptions of each brand are yet informative and help to indicate some small facts on the blends but are not directly reliable as quality assesments in any way, and should be looked at more as an advertisment or brief overlook of the packaging presentation and small selling points(which is why this book is definitly a superb resource for tobacanists and retailers.

As a cigar enthusiast I enjoy looking through the Cyclopedia to find the brands I like and know what sizes are available before I might go out and look for a blend, but I still prize researching new blends(IPCPR trade show and the like) and checking them out at my local B&M or reading reviews from fellow cigar smokers. In retrospective, this makes great reading once in a while and can be used to find out basic facts and look into some esoteric brands that don't typically get to much industry face time. All in all a great quick referrence book which is in actuality the only book of its kind and very purposeful nonetheless.

Siempre se habla de lo difícil q es establecer la lactancia pero nunca se habla de lo difícil q es el proceso de destete, en el libro encontramos la guía de como poder poner fin a la etapa de lactancia teniendo en cuenta y respetando a los niños, para lograrlo de la manera más segura emocionalmente para ellos y para la madre.
